Volunteer through NPower

Are you a tech savvy individual who wants to put your skills to good use? We are looking to match techies of all talents with local nonprofits in need of some assistance. Becoming a technology volunteer is a great way to help resource-strapped nonprofits overcome technology hurdles and to meet some great people too!
As a volunteer you could...
...develop weekly computer courses for low-income families wanting to learn email and Internet skills.
...help a shelter fundraise through its website by setting up an online auction
...coach a grassroots advocacy organizaton use mail merge to issue timely action alerts.
...participate in a day of service to nonprofits, along with dozens of fellow volunteers!
How does it work?
1. Determine how much time you have available and what skills you would like to contribute to projects.
2. We recommend that you attend the next volunteer orientation. While not required, this orientation provides tools and knowledge to help you be a successful volunteer.
3. Complete a Volunteer Profile (our handy on-line form), and select a Project Opportunity from our web site. Nothing seems to fit? Check back often, we are continually adding new projects.
4. Meet with the organization's project coordinator to agree on a "scope of work." A project scope outlines the tasks to be completed and sets expectations around the time and length of a project. Need some help? Download our sample scope.
5. Get started! Communicate regularly with the non-profit's project coordinator. Once you complete the project scope of work, conclude your project by documenting your work and training staff and volunteers to take advantage of the new or improved technology - even after you leave.
